Activities

  1. Speech Festival 2006
As usual most of the first term was taken up by students preparing for the Speech Festival. Many of the English Club members either participated themselves or assisted junior students in their preparation. This year some senior students participated in the Dramatic Duologue for the first time as well as the regular solo verse speaking. As a final preparation for the verse speaking, we held a Poems Appreciation day here at school in early November and this was very ably organized by the English Club committee.

  2. Language Week 2006
  3. Language Week which was held in early March involved committee members from Chinese, Putonghua and English Clubs organizing a variety of language-based activities. The Treasure Hunt was the highlight of this event and the Quiz and Tongue Twister Competitions were also popular. During the morning assembly, trilingual idioms, proverbs, riddles and telephone conversations were shared.

  4. English Day Camp 2006
On 2nd May 2006, we had an English Day Camp during the morning. Our own Form One students as well as the Primary Six students from Fanling Public School joined in the activities. All participants received a camp book and took part in three events; "Act it out", "Get slim", and "Snack time". Students seemed to find the activities stimulating and amusing and lots of spontaneous English words and phrases were generated. Thanks to the English Staff and Form Six students who made this such an enjoyable day.

  5. English Speaking Day 2006
This year English Speaking Day began with an introductory speech by our Deputy Principal Mr. Tse who spoke about the importance of learning English. The slogan for the day was "Show you're wise and win a prize" and the students certainly collected many prizes as they participated in the four stalls and accumulated stamps. The stalls were "Terrible Tongue Twisters", "Do you know?" (General Knowledge Quiz), "A, B, C" (Alphabet Quiz) and "Get in groups" (Categories). Most students seemed to enjoy the day and a high participation rate was achieved. It was really great to hear our students making so much effort to speak English.
